In search of an Oasis!
In search of an Oasis!
In a deserted life ... To quench your memories
Straying
I see an oasis...
Thrilled... i run towards it ...
gasping and crying...
dragging my cramped legs...
Alas! to my dismay it is a mirage ...
with broken heart...
misted eyes puffing breath
Limping steps i see a mirage ! ...
Not giving up....I run towards it again ... hoping to be an oasis ! :)

Purpose of beard for Males.. :)
There is a proper reason behind beard to be unshorn....actually as you can clearly see that men have beard and women dont. Firstly, let us see Why God Has Given Beard To Men ? The Fact is that there is a lunar nerve starting from one side of the cheek, going past beneath the chin and ending at the other side of the cheek (Actually, there are two nerves that meet at chin.) This lunar nerve receives energy from the moon and causes swaying effects on all the parts of the brain, cerebrum, cerebellum, and medulla oblongata. With a flowing beard, those effects from the moon can be insulated as the beard is right there on the lunar nerve. Longer the beard, the better. As such, men can have more control over their emotions. Now let us see Why God Hasn't Given Beard To Women ? The fact here is that women have an inbuilt cycle that corresponds to the Lunar cycle of 28 days and that is the mensuration cycle of exactly 28 days for a healthy woman. Women need to go along with the energy from the moon and their mensuration cycle because the job of giving birth to a baby is given to them and they have the ability to handle emotions. How wonderful, isn't it??

Words knocking heart !! :)
Hey ppl! Sometimes, some jumbled words do knock me at my free times, but when i open myself to them they take shape of some poem or whateva i dont knw.... :p Though very busy in my work these days, still weneva i get few mins in my office i get some thots, one of them i m sharing with u in this post.. :)
"Apni bebassi par aaj rona aaya mujhe....
dusron ne kya apno ne aazmaaya mujhe....

Dil to toota hai thoda to jalta hai......

Oh Master, we are your servants
May our actions be such
That we walk in virtue, and shun wrong
So that we laugh as life-breath leaves us.
Waheguru Jee! :)
"ae maalik tere bande hum
aise ho humare karam
nekee par chale, aur badee se taley,
takey huste huey nikley dum
ye andheraa ghanaa chhaa rahaa,
tera insaan ghabara rahaa
ho rahaa bekhabar, kuch na aata nazar,
sukh ka sooraj chupa ja rahaa
hai teri roshni mein jo dum
to amawas ko kar de poonam
bada kamzor hain aadmi,
abhi laakhon hain is mein kamee
par tu jo khadaa, hai dayalu bada,
teri kirpa se dharti thami
diya tune humey jab janam

jab zulmon ka ho saamnaa,
tab tu hi humey thaamnaa
voh burai karey, hum bhalai bharey,

Commitment ? 2010 rocks Man! :D
Sikhism, not a religion, but a way of life, a pathway of spirituality to attain salvation. Gur Barr Akaal _/\_ :)
Nothing personal in this post for anyone, this post of mine is truly based on general observations i have in past few years. This post is sort of a general observation of me in categorizing Sikh population based on the part of it i hav came across, assuming myself NOT WORTH at all.... This is just as per my observation so it may contradict to actual status or so, Excuse me for tht... Waheguru Jee!
Talking bout India only we knw Sikhs in India are just 2% of total population, so we can imagine very well the number...
Leaving aside the babas, priests n profesionals n NRI/foreigner sikhs aside if we consider common people contributing 100% of sikh population, out of which almost 40% are nw patits, the ppl frm sikh families r no more sikhs i.e. they cut hair or beard etc...n they hav no values of sikhism, likewise they even dont knw basics of sikhism, though its just fault of thr parents who didnt teach them at all. Anyways, lets say another 10% are of thots "Sikhi te dil ch hundi hai ji, ki karna kes rakh k ya paath kar k..." though they knw basics atleast.... Fine!!
Now ignoring above ppl, assuming remaining 50% to be important, with tag of being Amritdhaari, baptized, the blessed ones.. :)
I myself hav seen ppl partaking Amrit just to get social status, or can say show off types...so i can say it to be 10%, they dont bother bout anything else.
Moving forward another 5% do have values n they respect them but cudnt follow them as they dont mind going off track occasionally... for example; consuming alcohol occasionally, likewise i got to knw bout this frm one of my frnd last evening, though i myself hav seen a renouned raagi singh sitting in hotel Leela,Mumbai few years back with his family consuming CHAMPAIGN (sorry if i didnt spell it correct), i was so shocked to see tht scene, but i thot he is professional but my frnds statement last day shooked me off... Akaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll
Then another 5% do hav values n they even dont anything wrong but they go stereo types, likewise they dont go to depth of any concept, they dont go for reasoning, they just follow code of conduct as it is, but they dont knw its meaning n importance.
Rest 30% are true at values n code of conduct.
BUT in among these 30% there r almost 15% who call themselves to be different frm all, so on such platforms they start discriminations in many forms which is against humanity, where sikhism means humanity n equality of all.. in itself.
May be 10% or so get involved with non sikhs in terms of relation, love, n marriages etc. so sooner or later they lose thr identity in terms of values for one reason or another and they left with no option other than compromise on such grounds. The irony is i came across majority of sikh Kaur girls getting into hindu guys making excuse tht she didnt get any gursikh guy for tht....lol... :p as if thr is no gursikh guy left on this whole earth.... Wahgeuru!! Satt bachan .. :D
Height of cheating one ownself.. Pheww! :p The starnge thing is such ppl knw tht they r doing wrong in thr concious still they love to carry it on... dnt knw what does tht meeeaaaaannnnnn!! :-/
Then left are just 5%...who we can call as true ones who are more spiritual than being religious, better to call them true humans, which is the important thing than matters being a Sikh but WHERE ARE THEY?
Infact i guess sooner or later they too get frustrated finding themselves all alone on this path coz of IDENTITY CRISIS.. Waheguru!
Where is our Sikhism heading to? Bigger question is whr i shud move to?? Though i m worst of the worsts.... May be i m sounding like an emotional loser but i guess i m thinking a bit practically, as i m not sure bout world but if this continues to be like this then this spirits will surely end by 2012....
I m just a learner, a beginner trying to explore concepts frm its roots. No other intention of this post. I m extremely sorry if anybdy got hurted with my this post but no such intentions. Need wishes of u all to be in high spirits.
Sri Akaal Jee Sahaye!! :)

Happy Birthday to Khalsa :)
As per my view, Khalsa is not a sect, community or any religion, it is a thought, or being precise it is state of mind, in which one gets pure thoughts of high spirits, may it be professional, spiritual or regarding anything. So, i feel Khalsa is not just anyone from Sikh religion, it is everyone with high spirits n pure thoughts for benefit of all i.e. sarbat da bhalla..
May Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee Maharaj bless us all with the spirit to fight with evils n Negetive thoughts inside us resulting in pure mind n life style....
Happy Baisakhi :)

Branded with a thousand marks of disgrace, Indra cried in shame.
Paras Raam returned home crying.
Ajai cried and wept, when he was made to eat the manure he had given, pretending it was charity.
Such is the punishment received in the Court of the Lord.
Rama wept when he was sent into exile,
and separated from Sita and Lakhshman.
The ten-headed Raawan wept when he lost Sri Lanka,
but he stole away Sita with the beat of his tambourine.
The Paandavas were made slaves, and wept,
even in the Presence of the Lord(Krishan).
Janmayjaa wept, that he had lost his way.
One mistake, and he became a sinner.
The Shaykhs, Pirs and spiritual teachers weep;
at the very last instant, they suffer in agony.
The kings weep - their ears are cut;
they go begging from house to house.
The miser weeps; he has to leave behind the wealth he has gathered.
The Pandit, the religious scholar, weeps when his learning is gone.
The young woman weeps because she has no husband.
O Nanak, the whole world is suffering.
He alone is victorious, who believes in the Lord's Name.
No other action is of any account.

Engineer on a Mission: A Jesuit priest EE finds a new calling in Africa
As both an electrical engineer and a Jesuit priest, Lammert B. ”Bert” Otten can lead a spiritual retreat just as easily as a dam-building project in Zambia. ”As an engineer,” he says, ”you’re cocreating with God to make life better for people.”
Zambia has been Otten’s adopted African home since 2005, when he retired from the University of Seattle. As a consultant in appropriate technology for the Diocesan Promoters Office in Monze, about 180 kilometers southwest of the capital city of Lusaka, he has installed solar-powered water pumps for irrigation, solar vegetable dryers, solar lighting, and refrigeration. He has turned the oil from the seeds of local plants, such as jatropha, into biofuel, soap, and candles. And, yes, he’s built a dam—on the Ngwerere River.
As if his retirement weren’t busy enough, Otten also uses available materials to solve smaller problems. There’s the lamp he made by covering a cardboard toilet-paper roll with an inside-out potato chip bag as a reflector; the solar water distiller he made from glass, poly film, conduit pipe, and a plastic water bottle; and the battery-charging windmills he fashioned from discarded plastic sewer pipes. Otten also hitched LEDs (donated by stateside friends) to flashlight batteries (ditto) as a cheap and safe alternative to burning diesel fuel or candles in a grass-roofed hut.
”Many people in Zambia are living on a dollar a day or less, so cost is a big thing for them,” says Otten. He’s now working on a battery recharger made out of refrigerator magnets and coils from telephone dialing equipment. ”You wave the magnets around the wire coil and get the electrons moving enough to light LEDs,” he says.
He also mentors local high school students; last summer he initiated a Seattle University Engineers Without Borders student group trip to the Zambezi River to build a water pump run by river current.
For his efforts in appropriate technology, the University of Missouri College of Engineering, in Columbia—one of Otten’s many alma maters—gave him a Missouri Honor Award for Distinguished Service in Engineering.
As a child in St. Louis he relished making crystal and one-tube radios in his basement. At the same time, he adds, ”there was always something about my personal relationship with God. I kind of felt called to the priesthood but didn’t want to do it. Then, in high school, I got to know the Jesuits, their lifestyle, intellectual discipline, and mission work in the developing world. I realized I could do things like that in relation to technology, and it all tied together.”
Otten started at the Jesuit-run St. Louis University as an electrical engineering major in 1950 but entered the Jesuit seminary three years later. He ended up with, among other degrees, a licentiate in sacred theology from the University of Saint Mary, in Kansas, and a Ph.D. in EE from the University of Missouri.
Otten first visited Zambia in 1994. Now 77, he lives in a Jesuit compound containing a high school, hospital, radio station, and staff living quarters within walking distance of the village of Chikuni. Africa seemed a natural choice for retirement. ”Most of my contacts were in Zambia, and the needs in Africa were so much greater,” he says. ”One fellow, orphaned at 10, worked his way through teachers college making and selling LED lights,” says Otten. ”Now his life is different.”
